Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Semi-protection: For a few weeks, general IP harassment. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:28, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Tell me if I'm missing something but I'm not seeing the harassment...? There was one nonconstructive edit this morning [1] and a mildly provocative warning from an IP a few hours ago [2] but I'm not seeing anything that warrants protection, especially when you have had multiple good-faith interactions with IPs on your talk page recently. Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing by IPs. — Sundostund mppria (talk / contribs) 22:06, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Article repeatedly vandalized by IP editors. The leading sentence probably needs a bit of toning down, but before that happens, something should be done. APenguinThatIsSilly("talk") 23:39, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason: There has been repeated removal of stable, well-sourced content by an IP editor and a cluster of newly registered accounts, all with a single-purpose focus. The accounts seem to make minor edits to obscure their intent, while the IP handles the actual deletion of content. This appears coordinated. Warnings have been issued, and discussion has been attempted on the talk page without engagement. J Pratas (talk) 02:00, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

The accusation that I am in any way coordinating with anyone is a false and unfounded aspersion. There is a credible accusation of sock-puppetry but it has nothing to do with me (obviously), and semi-protection would not solve it. Also, certainly the least engaged actor on the talk-page is J Pratas, who is dismissive of all opposed arguments, no matter how straightforward they are. There is administrative attention needed for behavioral issues at that page, but this is not it. 100.36.106.199 (talk) 10:14, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Pending changes: Subject has been deceased for over five years at this point. The administrator who protected the page is unfortunately deceased. CutlassCiera 00:53, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

New page reviewer who has made over 90 articles including 1 good article and quite familiar with content guidelines, I may also as well not clutter the backlog for other reviewers. CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 06:06, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

I have created 35+ articles so far, I am trying to clean up the Roman-Persian wars topic currently, I noticed that there are many articles to create there. This is why I think this permission would be relevant.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 18:34, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Requests for confirmation

Confirmed

[edit]

Reason for requesting goes here I am an experienced theater director creating a Wikipedia article about my work that has been reviewed multiple times by AfC reviewers. I need to upload several low-resolution scans of historical press articles under fair use to support the notability of the subject. My account is more than 4 days old and has over 10 edits. Please consider granting confirmed user status so I can upload files to the English Wikipedia. Thank you! Gulu Monteiro EDP (talk) 16:19, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Not done. @Gulu Monteiro EDP: Uploading scans of press articles would not comply with Wikipedia's criteria for non-free images, which are stricter than fair use. One of the criteria is that the uploaded image has to be used in a Wikipedia article (shown, not just linked), and I can't imagine it would be appropriate to show a scan of a press article in a Wikipedia article. Please just cite the sources in the draft and do not (re)upload them here or on Wikimedia Commons. If the source is not already available online from the publisher, then linking the source is not necessary. If a reviewer wants help accessing the sources for verification, they might ask you to share it with them by email or other means.
(You currently have made 8 edits on Wikipedia, not 10. But once you have made 10 edits, you still must not reupload those files here on Wikipedia for the reasons explained above.) – JensonSL (SilverLocust) 06:42, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

I had my EC revoked last year by the arbitration committee. I have since completed the required 500 substantial edits to the best of my knowledge. I often use the translation tool to translate English articles into Dutch. However, recently I've been receiving the following message:

"On the English Wikipedia this tool is limited to extended confirmed editors, and the machine translation component is disabled for all users (see WP:CXT)."

While I can still continue with the translation after clicking through, I didn't used to see this message. I'm now worried that something has changed and I may soon lose access to the tool entirely.

For this reason, I would like to kindly request extended confirmed status. I'm mostly active on the Dutch Wikipedia, not so much here.

Thank you very much in advance! AidepikiWeerF (talk) 14:56, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Just to clarify, you only receive this message when trying to translate to the English Wikipedia.
I’ve translated over a hundred articles to the Hebrew Wikipedia and have never encountered this message, but I did when translating to the English Wikipedia.
If you're getting it while translating to the Dutch Wikipedia, then the issue should be addressed there, not with the English Wikipedia. IdanST (talk) 09:56, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
I see. Actually, I just noticed that I don’t get the message when I’m on the English-Dutch translation page. I get it on the page before that—the one where I have to select the source and target languages. For some reason, I didn’t use to see that page; it used to take me straight to the translation without asking. Anyway, okay then, thanks for the help, and sorry for the bother. AidepikiWeerF (talk) 11:43, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
Not done however you can use a workaround. When translating TO English, change the article title to start with "Draft:" After the article is all the way ready (translations, templates, formatting, etc) you can move it to the article name. — xaosflux Talk 13:09, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

I had my EC revoked because of gaming of the system. I believe this happened March 22, 2025. Since then, I have attempted to edit constructively on Wikipedia. I want to see if there is a way that I can get EC. Thanks again

There are no outstanding requests for the event coordinator flag.

Event coordinator

[edit]
Reason for requesting event coordinator rights - I'm running an editathon for Trans + history week on the 9th May as part of my new role in Wikimedia UK as Wales (and languages) programme coordinator. It's in person and I'm hoping to attract new users who will need an account. I've set up a dashboard and am asking people to create an account beforehand so I might not need this, but it would be handy to have, at least for the duration of Trans + history week (5th May to 11th May 2025). Requests for new page reviewer

New page reviewer

[edit]

I am reapplying for the new page reviewer role after my initial request was declined because now I realize I had applied prematurely. Since then, I have gained some experience, refined my understanding of Wikipedia’s policies, and have been actively contributing to the Articles for Creation (AfC) review process. This has not only strengthened my ability to assess new articles but has also given me useful experience in engaging constructively with editors.

I am well-versed with Wikipedia’s guidelines, particularly regarding notability, verifiability, and neutrality. My strength is my ability to remain unbiased while reviewing, and I always strive to improve by learning from my mistakes. Though my registered account is only a few months old, I have been editing Wikipedia for a long time, which has given me substantial familiarity with its norms and regulations.

I have been enjoying reviewing AfC drafts, and this experience has encouraged me to take on a more active role in maintaining Wikipedia’s quality. I now feel myself confident that I can handle this responsibility and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to contribute as a new page reviewer.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Best regards, Rahmatula786 (talk) 17:12, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

No Sir, Before creating this account, I used to edit Wikipedia anonymously and made various contributions. However, after realizing the benefits of having a registered account, I created this one and have since been actively editing and contributing regularly. I would like to request NPR rights to contribute more effectively to this area and help reduce the backlog at NPP. I have created 18 articles and have been actively involved in patrolling new pages, tagging non-notable and promotional content for CSD and AfD. Many of the articles I have nominated for CSD or AfD have been deleted, which I believe reflects my understanding of Wikipedia's notability and content policies. With NPR rights, I will be able to continue this work more efficiently. I am familiar with relevant guidelines and policies and would appreciate the opportunity to help out in this area. Thanks for your time and consideration! Junbeesh (talk) 07:43, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

I've been an editor for a while and have experience in article creation (mainly on the shorter side for more niche areas with fewer sources) and have a few DYKs under my belt. Think my knowledge of policy demonstrated through this makes me a good fit for these permissions. Upjav (talk) 20:33, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

As a further note, I'd like to review new pages. Upjav (talk) 02:17, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
Just out of pure morbid interest - you reviewed the first page I created back in 2014! Did it all work differently back then or something - like not needing the reviewer right? Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 07:42, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

I wish to apply for New Page Reviewer permissions to deal with the large backlog of unreviewed pages. I have participated in many AfD discussions, which proves my understanding of Wikipedia's content policies and notability guidelines. JustARandomEditor123 (talk) 10:48, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

I am requesting this permission because I want to volunteer in reducing the NPP backlog and ensuring that new pages are encyclopedic and properly cited. I believe that I am qualified to be a new page reviewer because I have created many new articles that are encyclopedic and adequately sourced, nominated new pages for speedy deletion when appropriate and have participated in the AfD process. Cyrobyte (talk) 00:09, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

I have temporary NPP right which will expire in few days, I kindly request renewal of this right to continue reviewing articles. Thank you. Mekomo (talk) 14:33, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

@Rosguill do you want this one? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 22:29, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
HJ Mitchell I’m generally fine with other admins reviewing track records for people whom I conferred trial runs to (and arguably the extra set of eyes is a good thing). My activity has been rather inconsistent lately in particular due to other demand on my time so I would expect others to step in more signed, Rosguill talk 22:52, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

I am an AFC reviewer asking for another trial or permanent permission for this flag. Last time, it was granted by @Sohom Datta: for a 2-month trial after the first month trial was successful. ☮️Counter-Strike:Mention 269🕉️(🗨️✉️📔) 04:37, 31 March 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I would like to request the New Page Reviewer user right. I have been actively contributing to Wikipedia since May 2022 and have made a variety of edits, including content creation, copyediting, and reverting vandalism. I have also patrolled recent changes and worked on improving articles related to history, Type 1 diabetes, and various general topics. Additionally, I understand Wikipedia's notability guidelines, reliable sourcing requirements, and article layout conventions. I am familiar with the CSD and AfC, as well as most other things. Thank you for considering my request. MallardTV Talk to me! 03:41, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I’d like to request NPR right for a 45 day trial. I’m familiar with key policy WP:N, WP:V, WP:NPOV, and deletion criteria, CSD, PROD, & AfD. I want to test myself with this role and help reduce the backlog by reviewing new pages carefully and in line with Wiki guidelines. Oxiyam.Primal (talk) 10:28, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

I think there's a technical issue with the AfD Statistics tool, its only showing the list of articles I nominated, while the rest seem to be hidden. Btw, I'm open to feedback and fully committed to learning and improving during the trial. Oxiyam.Primal (talk) 11:00, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
That's because of your username change—the full list is here. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 23:02, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I have 1 denied applied about a month ago because I didn't have 500 undeleted Main space edits at the time. I now have 501 so I am reapplying for temporary permissions. I have a decent amount of experience going through AfDs and source searching to check if they are notability. Moritoriko (talk) 06:40, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

I would like to expand my contributions to Wikipedia by helping address the extensive backlog at NPP. I have been an active participant in the AfC process as a probationary reviewer for multiple months, and I regularly take part in AfDs and occasionally in PRODs within the scope of WP:PHILIPPINES. While I understand that my impact on the backlog may not be significant in terms of numbers, I am committed to performing thorough, policy-aligned reviews to the best of my ability. AstrooKai (Talk) 19:32, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi! My name is WormEater13. I would like to request NPR rights. I am knowledgable about PROD, AfD, and AfC, and about Wikipedia guidelines such as WP:VERIFIABILITY and WP:NOTABILITY, especially for biographies. I am aware of what NPR's should be looking for in approving articles - whether AfC articles are likely to survive AfD attempts or not. I have proposed and taken part in multiple AfD's before, and have successfully created approved articles through the AfC process. Being a new editor to Wikipedia myself, I am civil, and always try my best to be as constructive as possible to new editors. Although I do not meet the WP:NPP requirement of at least 500 edits, I am an active contributor. I noticed that the AfC backlog is huge, and i'd love to devote time to help clear it up, specifically for WP:TEXAS. WormEater13 (talkcontribs) 14:41, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Not done for now. Please see WP:NPPCRITERIA. We'd like to see more experience first because notability and deletion are fairly complex areas of the encyclopedia. –Novem Linguae (talk) 19:19, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
I had a trial permission to manage redirects close to a year ago, if I remember correctly. I did not have time for the back half of that trial, but have more time now. I have noticed how large the article backlog is and would try to work on lowering that, since I am finding myself with a lot more free time on here. Generally think I have a good past experience with AfD, not as much as some, but understand most guidelines well. May leave some more questionable pages up for a different reviewer, but have a good record adding categories and WikiProjects on my own article. Lots of my current pages are election pages or football pages, so might lean more into reviewing those since I am most familiar with those guidelines. Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 15:58, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

I wish to assist at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. I also close WP:RM discussions from time to time and this tool will save me from having to do a technical request every time. I meet the WP:PMCRITERIA. GMH Melbourne (talk) 04:03, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Occasionally move pages and sometimess if a title is not needed I don't need to mark it with db-g7. Would be much easier to move pages without leaving a redirect behind if needed. RanDom 404 (talk) 14:50, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Not done per lack of demonstrated need and moving experience. You have done 20 moves, 2 of which are from redlinks. (WP:G7 only applies to move redirects when there were no other substantive contributors to either page, so please just continue to use {{db-g7}} if you need to delete a redirect left over from a page that you placed at a bad title.)
(As an aside, there is no need to delete a move redirect from draftspace to mainspace, nor to tag it as {{R from draft}}. The default {{R from move}} will suffice, and editing a redirect makes it harder to move the target to the redirect (if needed).) JensonSL (SilverLocust) 06:15, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

I have read the WP:PCCRITERIA and I believe that I meet them. I sometimes see pending edits waiting for approval on articles, and I believe that I could do this job myself. wojtekpolska1013 [talk page] 09:35, 3 April 2025 (UTC)

Not done. You are still relatively new in terms of experience with editing Wikipedia. I encourage you to continue contributing and become more active as an editor, and you may request this permission again when you have a few hundred more edits to articles. Thanks, Mz7 (talk) 07:18, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

I have been active on Wikipedia, I'd like to request PCR to monitor recent changes. I'm aware of WP:NOTVANDAL & WP:AGF, so there won't be any "biting newcomers" reverts. Srimant ROSHAN (talk) 14:40, 5 April 2025 (UTC)

I'm requesting PCR to help out with reviewing pending changes I notice when patrolling recent changes. I have read and am familiar with the policies. I'd like to think I would make a good reviewer. LightlySeared (talk) 08:08, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

 Done Mz7 (talk) 07:21, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

I recently began using the WP:RCPS script to rollback vandalism. However I'm currently unable to mark edits as patrolled when I determine they are benign or productive. I'm guessing I need this permission to do that? Could I be added? Cheers, Patrick (talk) 15:49, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Done. @Patrick Welsh: Hmm, I actually don't know anything about the WP:RCPS script, but I doubt that this permission would fix whatever problem you were seeing with that script. I have granted you the permission anyway because you seem to be qualified for it. If you still experience problems with the RCPS script, it may be a good idea to reach out to its maintainer, Awesome Aasim (talk · contribs). Best of luck, Mz7 (talk) 07:28, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Rollback

[edit]

I'd like to try some other counter-vandalism tools, such as AntiVandal, Huggle, and SWViewer, which require the rollback right to use. I've actively been patrolling recent changes for roughly 3-4 months and have consistently warned editors when reverting them. Tenshi! (Talk page) 17:18, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Greetings, I’m an extended confirmed user, I am requesting for the rollback rights to help fight against vandalism and disruptive edits. I’m more active on recent changes feed and also new page feeds, I am familiar with WP:VANDALISM and I will love to help here. Best Regards (CP) 22:07, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

I have been editing constructively on the project for a few years now and would like to more effectively revert disruptive edits when I encounter them. I am familiar with Wikipedia's policies and understand the distinction between purely disruptive edits and edits that may be unhelpful but are made in good-faith. When reverting a new user's edits, I make sure to properly explain myself in an edit summary and leave a message on the relevant article's or user's talk page as appropriate, unless the user is obviously acting in bad faith and WP:DENY applies, in which case I report them to a relevant noticeboard. I have thoroughly read the WP:ROLLBACK instructions and will make sure to familiarize myself with the tools before using them, and avoid using the rollback tools when they are not appropriate and another reversion tool would be more suitable. silviaASH (inquire within) 06:57, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

I would like to request rollback permissions to help combat vandalism more effectively on Wikipedia, I have been reverting vandalism for a good amount of time from recent changes using twinkle and undo. Therefore I think rollback tool can help me to assist in identifying and reverting unconstructive edits efficiently. Imwin567 (talk) 16:22, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello. I would like to get a rollback. I often search for vandalism on Wikipedia, and it will obviously be easier for me to fight it with a rollback. I warn users when necessary, and i know the most important WP policies. The Seal F1 (talk) 07:32, 10 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello! Im requesting rollback rights because i am an extended confirmed user that has made hundreds of high-quality edits in mainspace. I need rollback tool to revert vandalism and other non-constructive edits more easier. WhoIsCentreLeft (talk) 21:18, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
